Have a passion for what hurts God’s heart in our community? Want seed money to kick off a ministry that addresses that need? Know of an area non-profit meeting needs we can’t meet on our own? Know of a teacher that has a creative project that is beyond the school budget? This campaign will allow us to reach our community in significant ways.
Beginning Sunday, February 5, we will set aside every $1 bill in the collection plate for the Dollar-A-Week Campaign. Here’s how this program will work: We are asking that every member put $1 in the collection plate above and beyond your regular tithe or giving. This money will be collected throughout the year and then in the Fall 2017, individuals and groups in the church, and in the community, can apply to receive grants that can be used to meet needs in our community.
Example: If 100 people give $1 a week for 52 weeks, we will have $5,200 at the end of the year. If 120 people put $1 in the collection plate each week, we would have a total of $6,240 to be used to serve our neighbors in new and creative ways.
Yes, we are aware that this is being kicked of just before our annual Lenten offering. That offering will still be used to meet current missions and outreach needs and projects. The Dollar-A-Week Campaign will be above that ask. We were asked if a $52 check could be written to cover the $1/week goal. ABSOLUTELY! Begin praying about how you will participate in both giving and finding needs we should address.
