Pastor Appreciation Month

October is Clergy Appreciation Month. Our pastor is the person you call when you are in need of prayers, when you need a wedding officiant, someone to officiate the funeral of your family member, a person you want by your side when you are sick or dying. Your pastor will be beside you praying when you are in need and rejoicing when you rejoice. In addition to sharing the Word of God with us, a pastor spends many hours studying and preparing. He also visits us during both crisis moments as well as times of great joy. He dedicates babies during baptism, stands at the altar when couples pledge their love, and at the same altar, he kneels as someone gives their life to Christ for the first time.

Our pastor is the shepherd of our congregation. Sometimes our pastor is the janitor, the gardener doing lawn maintenance, driving the church van, making repairs as the plumber or the electrician or even serving as the video and sound technician. Please make an extra effort to continually pray for our pastor and do something special to show our pastor how much we appreciate him!

Thank you, Pastor Malcolm Monroe, and your wife Teresa, for the many roles you both play at First United Methodist Church. We are so blessed to have you both. May you know just how much we all appreciate everything you both do and that you are always in our daily prayers. God Bless You!

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” | Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)
